#ArrivedInDetroit
The 2nd installation of the Arrived Photo Exhibition took place in Detroit, Mi. This show featured work from three local Detroit photographers. This was a 3-day long exhibition showcasing 11 pieces of art. On the last day, we held an artist panel where the photographers discussed their process, inspiration behind their work.
like our first exhibition, we were able to raise money for a local non-profit: Amplify Outside (AO). AO is a non-profit that focuses on reconnecting Black Michigan residents to the outdoors.
There will be food, a curated drink selection by collect beer bar, and music inspired by the soul of Detroit.
Nadia Lynch
Photographer
i grew my personal creative freelance business (est 2016) through finally learning to use all my different talents for a singular goal - to truly document and honor each emotion that graces my lens. to give a story to the emotion so that anyone can relate. i love simple views with random perspective angles or even putting together a collage or a set. i always focus on the feeling. that's i'm mostly interested in. i believe to help my people i must teach my hardest lesson; emotion. by showing emotion in an amplified way that focuses on the details and perspective, i teach myself that there's beauty in everything, even when i don't see it on the first glance. forever striving to see and show more; recalibrating.
Lo Braden
Photographer
Lo Braden, who also goes by Lo Cayne, is a black queer portrait and fashion photographer from Detroit. In the future they believe that we'll be able to take whatever we see and project it onto a screen. We'd be able to show our perspective, our point of view, straight from our brains. That technology doesn't yet exist, so the closest thing they have to that concept, is their camera. It's one of the main reasons why they love photography, they get to take a vision that they have in the form of a dream or sudden burst of inspiration and capture it, and share it with others.
Their work aims to show the beauty and glamour of black people, through careful consideration of color theory, composition and concepts. Their hope is that they can plant seeds with what they capture and it will grow as inspiration for others to do the same.
Octavia Olds
Photographer
Hi, my name is Octavia! I began shooting photos and filming videos as a teenager in 2013. It was as an on again and off again hobby for me then, but as I grew up my passion for visual storytelling had grown with me. Being able to openly express myself through the lens of a camera I was also able to find a fondness for documenting other people's unique stories as well.
My goal with OLO Photography is to help my clients tell their most authentic stories in visually creative ways. To gift them with portraits and videos they can have forever to cherish. Capturing people's natural individuality is a true pleasure and I hope to be able to do the same for you.
Your stories are worth being told.
